36 QUESTIONS AND A LATO ANSWERS
(School project for Digital Design Class)
Task: Create a type spec book for the typeface Lato, and the topic of the type spec book is the podcast musical: 36 Questions. The goal is to showcase the design of the typeface “Lato.” All illustrations and elements must be created using letters and symbols only.
No hand-drawn illustrations/elements are allowed.

My idea for this type spec book is to connect the simple roundness of the typeface to the visuals I will be using. The cover art for the soundtrack of the musical shows the heads of the two main characters facing together- I wanted to use that in my design too. Since Lato means summer, I decided to use summery colors in my design - orange and pink. Along side this, I treated the letters as shapes instead of a fill/ mosaic. I wanted to break down the simple objects in my design into shapes and construct it with letters.
I want the typspec book to be simple and not too distracting because I want to give highlight to how beautiful the font is. Lato has simplicity but also when zoomed in, has such unique details and I want to connect that in my project.
